Abstract

The article describes the features of the traces that remain on parts of cartridges in the process of “reloading”. The research problem is that amendments were made to the regulatory legal acts of Ukraine that regulate the circulation of firearms and ammunition for them, according to which gun owners were allowed to independently equip their own firearms with “reloading” cartridges. During this process, various types of equipment are used, the working parts of which leave certain traces on the parts of the cartridges. As a result, a study was conducted and these traces were isolated into a separate group, in order to further establish a more accurate method of manufacturing cartridges. The purpose of the study is to isolate the traces that remain on the parts of the cartridges in the process of “reloading” into a separate group, in order to further establish a more accurate method of manufacturing cartridges. The methodological basis of the work was general scientific and special research methods, which allowed for a comprehensive consideration of forensic aspects in the process of manufacturing “reloading” cartridges for rifled firearms. The conclusions emphasize that knowledge and understanding of the “reloading” process, the mechanism of operation of the equipment during such a process and the algorithm for its implementation, the relevant consumables used, as well as a thorough examination of ammunition and the identification of relevant traces left in the “reloading” process, will make it possible to clearly differentiate them into industrially manufactured and homemade cartridges.
