Abstract
The article examines knots and loops as objects of traceological research, which can be carriers of important information for the investigation. The research problem lies in the need for a clear definition of the basic concepts (terms) used in the study of knots and loops, as well as in taking into account the peculiarities of the methodology of their traceological research. The purpose of the study is to analyze the theoretical and practical aspects of the traceological study of knots and loops, to determine the features of their expert study and to substantiate a unified methodological approach to their study taking into account specific forensic features. The methodological basis of the work was general scientific and special research methods, in particular, system-structural, formal-logical, comparative-legal, analytical and the method of generalization of scientific sources and the practice of forensic expert activity. This allowed for a comprehensive consideration of the conceptual and categorical apparatus and features of the methodology of the traceological study of knots and loops. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive approach to the traceological study of knots and loops as objects of forensic research, as well as the need to take into account the peculiarities of the methodology of their research. The conclusions emphasize that knots and loops are important objects of traceological research, which contain forensically significant information and can be of significant importance for the investigation of criminal offenses. At the same time, the lack of a single unified approach to their study necessitates the need for further improvement of the methodology of traceological examination of knots and loops.
