Abstract
An analysis of physical methods, which allow to examine the supramolecular structure of the polymer that creates fiber, was made. It was determined that in forensic investigation, the method of compensating polarizing microscopy is the most feasible and admissible for polyester fibers (strings). Based on the results of a comparative research of the interference patterns seen on selected samples, a number of features were determined which characterize their supramolecular structure according to the color and picture of interference coloring. The detected features were determined as identification features and classified by family and group. The use of the compensating polarizing method greatly increases the effectiveness of the forensic research of fibers and fibrous materials.
