Forensic Investigation of Automated Systems Subjected to a Remote Denial-of-Service Attack: Classification of Denial-of-Service Attacks

Abstract

The paper presents a classification of denial-of-service attacks. It also considers various options for distributed attacks. This classification makes it possible to better understand the nature of a denial-of-service attack, its implementation methods, and how attackers achieve their goals. Knowledge of the types of denial-of-service attacks enables an expert to more efficiently investigate automated systems that have been subjected to such attacks.
