Abstract

The article considers the life and scientific work of Sergei Mikhailovich Potapov (1873–1957), the first head of the Cabinet of Forensic Science Expertise under the Public Prosecutor of the Kyiv Judicial Chamber, who led the agency from January 1914 to October 1919. The main attention is paid specifically to this period of his activity. Among the sources used are little-known literary and archival materials.
